Reasons for wanting to join the B.G. community:
I've recently got some more free time, and I'm looking to get back into playing Minecraft. I am the type of person who pushes in-game limits to build massive, awesome creations, and I like to share them with other people. As a result, I want to play on a multiplayer server. I want to join this server because I want to be a part of a chill, like-minded community. I've played on other servers, but they often impose in-game limitations (ex. no hoppers), or have annoying mods that detract from gameplay. This server sounds like it will stay around for a while and won't be reset often.
How did you know about us:
I saw the thread on /r/mcservers
When and how did you start playing minecraft:
I started playing Minecraft in Beta 1.2, over 4 years ago. I had heard of it before this, but I avoided playing it because I thought it sounded dumb (I thought it was about landmines). I saw a friend playing it in the computer lab at school and thought it looked really cool. I watched SeaNanner's lets-play, downloaded it, and nolifed it extremely hard. I've been hooked ever since.
Do you watch streams or youtube videos about minecraft and are you a fan of any popular minecrafters?:
At the moment I watch Panda4994 and Ethoslab. I used to watch many more people (Guude, Zisteau, Nebris, Pause, Sethbling, JL2579, GenerikB, and more), but they're either stopped making Minecraft videos or started making videos of other games I don't really enjoy watching. By FAR my favorite youtubers are the technical ones (JL, Panda, older Etho videos).
I'm a huge fan of the ZipKrowd server and I like the Mindcrack community as well.
How good are you in minecraft /10 and in what fields:
Technical Builds - 9.5/10 where 10 is ZipKrowd level
Redstone - 8.5/10 where 10 is redstone computer level
Good Looking Builds - 5/10 where 10 is VoxelBox level
Dedication - 8.5/10 where 10 is solo-clearing the Nether level
Overall - 8/10, 9/10 if someone else does the fancy stuff
Do you plan on steaming or starting a youtube series in the B.G server?:
I will probably stream a bit, especially if the server starts to get some awesome builds going. I will make Youtube showcases of my cool builds, and I might make lets-play videos.
For how long do you plan on playing minecraft:
I think I will play Minecraft on and off for the rest of my life. There's always awesome stuff to do, and the game is really relaxing/easy to sit down and play. Even if Minecraft becomes horribly outdated, I think I will still enjoy playing it.
Describe your normal day:
I'm a college student studying Computer Engineering. My normal day is very average.
- I wake up at around 10 to 11 AM, make breakfast (eggs usually), finish up homework, and go to class
- After morning class, I usually go back to my dorm, eat lunch, do some fun activities (games, reading, hiking) before going to evening classes
- After evening classes, I go to my dorm and do more fun activities and eat dinner. I go to the gym around 10-11 PM.
- After the gym I take a shower, listen to some peaceful music, and play a relaxing game or read.
Depending on homework and other activities, I'll usually spend 3-4 hours in class and 5-6 on the computer.
Extra information:
I'm a engineer. I love math and science, and I love figuring out why things work and learning about new ways to do things. This translates really well to Minecraft, where I constantly think about new things to build or ways to improve on existing designs. I do a lot of research on designs that other people have built, but I often end up using my own design because I find that it's better.
I am NOT the guy who makes pointless, oversized, laggy builds. You won't see me making a 5000 piston sugarcane farm unless I have a use for it. I will be the guy making Iron Golem and Wither Skeleton farms, though.
I'm also NOT the guy who will copy anything and everything I see from Youtube. I take pride in making the best, most useful designs I can. I'm not going to fill my base with pointless crap that I found a tutorial for. I will, however, take inspiration from some things and use designs I agree with.
That pretty much covers it. I am a technical player above all else. Thanks for considering my application, have a nice day.
